This is the Place Heritage Park

Last week, Colette told me that she was going to come down with her kids and go to This is the Place Heritage Park. I had some free passes, so I thought we’d tag along. Milo really enjoyed it.

We started out by going to the petting zoo. They have some great animals. In the spring there were some baby animals and now they have had the summer to grow up. Milo liked them, but didn’t want to touch any of them. Milo said that he didn’t want to ride the ponies, but then later said he did. Silly boy!

After that, we went to the playground where they had this great wooden train. Milo liked climbing in it. We also went to the Andrus Home, the bank (to get a cookie) and also the the ZCMI store. Milo was able to get a treat. He choose some big (like bouncy ball big) pink gumballs. He was able to get 6 of them for a dollar. He ate them for a few days and loved them. After that we went on the train ride. Milo seemed to think that was pretty cool. We didn’t go to too many things, but we definitely need to go back so that we can go see some more things. Holly was a great sport and either was content to go wherever or to sleep.

Walking in Grandpa’s boots

Recently, Grandpa & Grandma Little come over to our house before the soccer game two weeks ago. Grandpa was taking a nap. Milo decided it would be fun to see how it would feel to wear Grandpa’s boots. He had a hard time wearing them. Probably because he has them on the wrong feet and they are too big. He had fun trying.

The White Alligator

We went to the zoo tonight for my work party. Milo was very excited to see the white alligator. He couldn’t wait. I was talking to him about it this morning and I said, “Milo, I hear that the white alligator his blue eyes.” He said, “Wow……Mom, I want to see the alligator babies.” I said, “what do you mean?” Milo said, “you know, like the Shrek babies.” I thought it was pretty hilarious. We think that since everyone has a baby (us, Shrek, Dallin, practically everyone he knows has a baby), he thinks that of course the white alligator would have babies too.

We didn’t get very many pictures, because I thought the camera batteries were charged. I turned on the camera before we left and it looked good, but really we didn’t have any charge, so we only got a few pictures.

Milo was a little tired to start out the night. We went and saw the white alligator first. He managed to have a great time.

Full Length White Alligator
Here’s a full length shot of the white alligator. It is really cool looking.

Head Shot of White Alligator
A head shot. I think it looks like it is smiling.

Around the corner, guess what we found? Some alligator eggs! I was surprised and thought, maybe he did hear about some alligator babies. They weren’t white alligators babies, but normal green alligators and were a lot smaller, so maybe they were alligator babies.

Baby Alligators
As you can see, these alligators are smaller. They do have some eggs that I guess hatch the alligators. Very interesting and a very cool exhibit!

We did make it to see the other animals, after we ate dinner. We, of course, had to go see the giraffes. Milo would not let us go by without going into the stinky house. We saw the tiger, the leopard, the bears, the zebras, the cougar and of course King Kong (the big gorilla).

Milo also really liked riding on the train. It was free with the party. Holly was almost a sleep before we started the train ride. She was so curious, about what we were doing that she was looking all around and even cried a couple of times.

Holly was a very good little girl. Milo really had a great time. I’ll have to take him back again to see that white alligator.

The Fish and the Fair

This past weekend, Milo went to the Morgan County Fair. He had a great time. The first night he went to the parade. He liked getting the candy that was thrown. When Grandma Little or Lisa would go out into the road to get it, he would say “be careful!” When his Aunt Kim saw him, she gave him a special item.

Spaghetti Man

Later Grandma found him chewing on the ends of this. She asked him about it and he said, “it looks like spaghetti.” Now it is called Spaghetti Man. He also got a beaded necklace which he gave to Holly.

She didn’t seem to care about them much. On Friday Milo went to the actual fair. He went to see Grandpa Little and Uncle Eric near the animals. He didn’t like it over there very much because it was too loud.

Grandma talked him into going back for the kid games. He seemed to enjoy them a lot. He decorated a bag just for him. He was able to go through a car wash (made with PVC pipe that squirts water out). He went down a big slide. He even went rolling down it once and didn’t seem to mind.

Milo even caught a fish at the fish pond. He brought the fish to Grandma’s in a plastic bag. Holding up the plastic bag and looking at it, he said, “Grandma, are we going to cook him up for dinner?” All of us got a good laugh out of that one.

The goldfish

It managed to stay alive until we got home. I asked Milo what he wanted to do with it. He said he wanted to keep it and get some fish food. We went to the pet store and got some food for it and Grandma Little brought us a fish bowl.

I then asked Milo what he wanted to name his fish. He said, “Shrek.” Later when Lisa asked him what the name of his fish was he said, “Puss in Boots.” I’m not really sure what the fish’s name is. I guess I’ll have to ask him again and see what he says.

I guess we’ll have to see how long we can keep it alive…All in all, Milo had a great time at the fair.

Water Pigs!

I am sorry that I am slow in getting this post done. These pictures are from the 24th of July celebration that we had with Scott’s family. The day started out early with Milo going down to the parade here in Salt Lake City. He seemed to really like it. He was disappointed that Leo the Lion was not riding the RSL float. He did get a balloon sword and holster which is always exciting for a little boy.

After the parade we went to Andrus Central for the party. We had lunch and then it was time to do the water pigs.

Scott’s grandfather has done this for many years. He finds old tire tubes and ties off the ends with the garden hose sticking in one end. He turns on the water and just waits for the tube to burst. While they are waiting for the explosion kids run and jump on the water pig. As you can see, they do get pretty big and tend to accommodate a lot of people.

Milo was very happy to be jumping on the water pig.

Splish, it broke!\
I got lucky and got a picture right after it broke.

They usually have two or three water pigs. This year, it seemed that a lot of people got on the first one, and then the second two didn’t have as many people jump on them. When it was all over, Milo was asking “isn’t there any more?” He was disappointed, but still had a great time. This last picture is one of him telling us how the water pig went pop.

New clothes….again

We are still battling with Milo to wear some of his new clothes. He recently went to visit Grandma Little, and I only sent new clothes in his backpack. This way he wouldn’t have a choice but to wear new clothes. He decided a few of them would be acceptable to start wearing more often.

A few nights ago when Aunt Jill was here, she helped Milo pick out some new clothes to wear to Madelyn’s birthday party. He was so excited about it. They hung the clothes on the closet door so that they could tell me in the morning. The first thing Milo did when he woke up was say “Mom, I have something to tell you!” He then told me about the clothes and even went in to get them to show me. He was so excited to put them on. He again went to Grandma’s house this weekend for the fair. I again sent him with only new clothes to wear. It should be interesting to see how it turns out…

Sink or Float?

Milo has been going a little crazy the last week or so. Scott suggested a game that we could play since he’s been playing in the water in the bathroom sink a lot lately. Yes, Scott did get the idea from David Letterman.

Here’s a picture of the items we used for the first game. I did not approve of the drill going in the water. I was at work when that happened. You’d be surprised which of the items sunk and which ones floated. For instance, the navy blue frisbee thing sank and surprisingly the swim goggles sank as well…..it was Milo’s idea to see if the sword would sink or float. I think part of it sank and part of it floated.

Sink or Float items

Milo loved it. We’ve played it a few more times since then. It has been quite entertaining here as of late.
