The car wash…

At the end of last week and earlier this week we’ve had a few snow storms. As a result, our car had gotten very dirty with salt and gunk from the roads. Scott and I decided that we needed to get the car washed. The gas station that I normally go to here in downtown has an automatic car wash. The other day when Milo and I were out, I told him that we were going to get the car washed.

As I was getting out of the car to get gas, Milo asked me if I was going to get numbers (the receipt). I said yes. As I was outside getting gas, Milo said something to me through the window. I thought he was asking me if I was getting numbers and I said yes. What Milo was really asking was if he could get out of the car. Now that Milo is in a booster seat, we have turned the child locks on the back doors on so he can’t open the back door like he is use to. He was very intuitive and decided that he could still get out of the car. He jumped into the front seat and got out the driver’s side door. By this time I had just finished getting gas and told him that we needed to hurry and get back in the car.

After I got him back in the car and I drove up to the line for the car wash, I asked him if he thought we were going to the car wash in California. He said yes. He was remembering during the summer when we would go to the car wash and we’d get out of the car and they would clean and wash the car inside and out (it was fabulous….we haven’t been able to find one like that here). I explained that here in Utah we have a different car wash where we stay in the car and this thing goes back and forth and washes the car.

I find it amazing how much he still remembers about our adventures in California.

Visitors

Milo really likes it when visitors come to our house. It is especially fun for him because the visitor’s have to call up to be let into the building. This gives him plenty of time to wait out in the hall for them to arrive.

Pasta and cheese

Milo’s favorite meal is pasta and cheese (although recently grilled cheese sandwiches are taking over). I am not really sure why, but he loves plain pasta with good ol’ cheddar cheese on the side. He often asks for this delicacy to be prepared for both lunch and dinner. I guess he could be in love with a worse combination…

Arthur’s Eyes

Milo really likes reading Arthur’s Eyes by Marc Brown. He happened to be up late one night. As his mother was getting ready for bed he decided that she needed a bedtime story. He went and grabbed Arthur’s Eyes as well as his sunglasses. Apparently props make for an improved telling of the story. He proceeded to get into bed and read his mother the book. It was hilarious.

Shrek

Milo really, really likes the Shrek movies. I noticed that a new trailer for Shrek 3 had been released and thought that Milo might like to see it. That was a slight miscalculation. I showed him the trailer and he went crazy. He incessantly asked to see the new movie. I told him that we could go see it when it came out in the theater. I also mentioned that it wouldn’t be out for a long time. Milo doesn’t understand the concept of time very well and wanted to go to the “Shrek place” that night. I tried several times to explain that we couldn’t go see the new movie yet, but Milo just didn’t seem to understand in all of his excitement. Finally, I tried to explain that the guys hadn’t finished coloring Shrek. We would have to wait until they finished coloring Shrek. Milo couldn’t understand why that would take a long time either. Just to illustrate that fact he made me help him draw and color a picture of Shrek. He became obsessed with the smile and kept requesting that it be made larger. Below is an image of Milo posing with his Shrek picture. Somehow we finally managed to get him calmed down about going to see the movie. He still requests to watch the trailer at least a couple of times a week. I guess that we will be seeing Shrek 3 in the theater…

Cocoa

In the winter we have hot cocoa periodically. Milo has watched us drink this liquid chocolate and determined that he wanted to try some. Monica had measured the cocoa in the cups and was waiting for the water to boil. Milo was getting anxious and wanted to inspect his cup. He reached up, grabbed his cup, and quickly yanked it down. Little did he know that it was full of cocoa powder. He ended up showering his shoulder and the floor with cocoa. He did some circles trying to get it off his shoulder, and then decided that his feet might taste good. As you can clearly see they tasted very good. He licked his feet for quite a while….long enough for Scott to grab the camera and take a few pictures at least.
