Porridge

Scott quite enjoys a bowl of oatmeal mush for breakfast. Monica doesn’t mind it, but it certainly isn’t her favorite. As a result we don’t have oatmeal for breakfast very often. This all changed recently… Milo enjoys watching some Mother Goose videos where one of the main storylines involves porridge. One morning Scott asked Milo if he would like porridge for breakfast. He excitedly responded that he would. We had porridge (oatmeal) that morning and it was a big hit with Milo. We have had it several times since :) Of course it wouldn’t be a good post without some photos of Milo and his porridge.

Halloween

It appears that Milo is finally old enough to understand a bit about the holidays. He was getting quite excited about going trick or treating as Halloween approached. All of that excitement finally came out on Halloween…unfortunately before trick or treating.

In the morning Monica and Milo went to the zoo. Milo had a great time as usual. On the way home, Monica decided to stop by a local bakery to pick up some Halloween cookies. She thought it would be a festive way to celebrate the holiday. Milo fell asleep in the car between the zoo and the bakery, but once he realized that there were cookies to be eaten he was wide awake. He had a great time eating his cookie….well, okay, the frosting off his cookie.

Milo “finished eating” his cookie and then something happened that hasn’t really happened before. He starting going crazy like he was on a sugar high. I guess it would be the lack of sleep (Can we talk about the stupidity that is daylight savings time?) combined with the sugar. He was acting like a complete maniac. Running through the house, jumping on the bed, hiding in the closet, stepping on his computer mouse, eating paper, and in general making a gigantic mess. He finally came down from the sugar high and crashed about 4 p.m.

We were happy to get him to sleep, but the problem was the neighborhood trunk or treat started at 5 p.m. This meant that Scott was going to be dealing with getting a grumpy Milo into his Halloween costume. Milo is very, very picky about his clothes and didn’t really like wearing the costume much. Putting on the costume was a slow and painful process until Milo’s aunts arrived. He suddenly perked up and we managed to get out the door without a major incident.

We were all dressed up and had a great time at the trunk or treat. Milo enjoyed getting the candy and his aunt enjoyed being called Milo’s mother :)
