First Day of School!

Today was Milo’s first day of school. It went well. The only problem was that Holly woke up before 6:00 am and woke up Milo. He was a little tired as a result. He wanted to go into the school by himself. I thought that was fine. I’m sure in a few days, I’ll be able to drop him off in the car line. We shall see.

This is the picture I took of Milo and Holly before school.

After school, Milo said everything went well. He now comes out of the back of the school when they come home, so it took us a little longer and then we had to drive around, so I’m thinking we’ll do it differently tomorrow.

Milo is super excited about his teacher. He got a male teacher. Milo told us last week, he wanted the male teacher and his wish came true.

Holly did miss Milo quite a bit today. We did go to school to put together the weekly folders that go home to parents. Holly got to see Milo and was really excited about that. She didn’t want to leave the classroom.

It should be a great year!

Summer Activities

I decided to just lump all our summer activities into one post. At the beginning of the summer, we had my sister and her family come to visit. It was so much fun. It was fun to spent time with their family. It was her kids first visit to our house. Milo and Holly loved having extra friends to play with.

A few of the places we went to see/do while they were here were: Round Rock Donuts, to see the Round Rock, Amy’s Ice Cream, to get some Texas shirts, go see the Alamo, as well as going to the Longhorn Stadium, the Texas State Capital and you can’t forget going to Rudy’s.

We also went to visit them in San Antonio and went to Fiesta Texas. It was here that Milo went on his first roller coaster ride. He liked it but didn’t want to go again. You can see some pictures from our day at Fiesta Texas at my sister’s first post above.

A few days after my sister left for Utah we flew to Utah for our vacation. It started with a trip to Southern Utah with my family. Again, here’s my sister’s post about the trip.

We went to Capital Reef area and Goblin Valley. Milo and Holly really enjoyed spending time with the cousins. We did manage to get in a couple of world cup games while we were there.

At the end of the trip, we stayed in Green River. We spent an evening at the park. While we were there, Holly decided to run around with a stick in her mouth. Not the best idea ever, but you know, whatever.

During the rest of our vacation in Utah, we spent most of it watch world cup games, spending time with Scott’s brother and just hanging out. We did manage to make it to two soccer games. We had a great time in Utah.

We had a great 4th of July with our neighbors. We had some great fireworks! The only other noteworthy thing is Scott and Milo went to Schlitterbahn and enjoyed themselves very much. Milo still talks about the adventure. School starts in 3 weeks so we are attempting to finish up all the fun!

End of School

I realized that since school was starting in a month, I better get going on some posts. Milo had his end of year assembly the week before school ended. It was fun because Aunt Jill was able to come to it as well. Milo’s teacher was on maternity leave, but she felt it was important to come in to hand out the awards. Milo’s award was for trustworthiness. We aren’t really sure what that is suppose to mean. We did enjoy the assembly. I can’t believe how much he is growing up.

Summer reading program

In an effort to encourage Milo to read books this summer, I got the idea to have the family read books along with him to encourage him. As of today, he has finished 2 books. He is in the middle of a couple of books.

The other encouraging thing that happened was our neighbors had some books they were giving away. They had quite a few in the Magic Treehouse Series, so we got half and our other neighbor’s got the other half of the series. Milo is super excited about those and so maybe we can get some of those read.

He is still enjoying the My Weird School Daze Books by Dan Gutman.

The pictures below are of Milo reading. He is also very proud of his new books.

Milo’s birthday!

Wow, Milo’s birthday was more than a month ago. He was super excited for his birthday. It was the last day of school, which made it even all the more fun.

Milo enjoyed his birthday because his Aunt Jill was here for it. We planned for his birthday all week. Milo woke up in the morning to a little balloon hunt that his aunt did for him. Milo requested Round Rock Donuts for his birthday treat at school. As always, they gave us about a million donut holes. The kids loved them.

After school, Milo had his birthday party. He invited a few neighbor friends and a friend from school. It was a games party. We had them shoot darts at Star Wars characters to see how many points they could get. We had a box that had a ball inside. The object of the game was to bounce around to see how fast they could get the ball out of the box. We also had them throw balls from upstairs into boxes below to see how many balls they could get in the boxes. We also played wii for a little bit.

The best part of the party was the Darth Vader pinata we were able to find. The kids all got one shot at it and it had broken open. That was exciting!

To end the party, we had pizza, chocolate cake and ice cream. Milo got a lot of great gifts. He got some legos, and computer games and a few clothes. He had a great day!!

Holly enjoyed helping us put the candy into the pinata.

All the boys looking downstairs to see how the ball thrower was doing.

Holly’s 3rd birthday

Holly’s birthday was a couple of weeks ago. She was pretty excited to have her birthday! It was a busy day. The day started with a nice walk on the trail. After that we came home to get ready for the day and to finish cleaning the house. After lunch, we headed out to go see the doctor. Holly did well at the doctor’s office and didn’t cry too much for her shots. The only problem was that she fell asleep on the way there.

After visiting the doctor we went to pick up Milo a little early so that Holly could sleep for a little bit. After we picked Milo at school, we stayed at home for a short time then headed out to the Bobcat Bash (the big fundraiser for Milo’s school). We first got snow cones and then went on the inflatable toys. After doing that for a short time, we ran into our neighbors and went with them. We went inside the school to look at the silent auction as well as ride the train. After that it was time to go home.

After dinner, our neighbors came over for fruit pizza and to open presents. Holly enjoyed her presents a lot. She got a camera, some games, clothes, books, a game and a few games for the computer. She did start to wind down and became pretty tired. All in all she had a great birthday!

The pictures below are Holly bouncing in the inflatables and also her pizza with candles.

Holly’s first haircut

I got a coupon in the mail for a hair salon for kids. I thought, I would try it for Holly and go have her hair trimmed. I did it yesterday since the coupon was about to expire.

Her idea of getting her haircut meant that Dad would cut all her hair off and she’d take her shirt off. I told her that no, we were going to a store and a lady was going to put a sheet type thing on her and she’d cut her hair.

We arrived just before the store opened. When I got out to go inside, I realized we needed to change her underwear. After taking care of that, I realized that someone else had walked in right before us. We had to wait a few minutes. When it was Holly’s turn, she did very well. She got a sucker to suck on as well as movies while her hair was cut. The lady took a bit of time trying to get Holly to cooperate to get her hair straight. She did as well as she could. After the haircut, Holly got a cute little bow in her hair and prize at the end. It was a great experience.

Here’s some pictures of before, during and after. The before picture is at the bottom.

Motorcycle Ride

Milo’s aunt sent his some knuckle struts to build a motorcycle. He was very excited. After we got it built, he played with it a lot and drove it around. This is a fun little video of him showing off how the motorcycle goes.

Milo’s Iguana Presentation

A few weeks ago, Milo had to research and present on a desert animal. Milo’s animal was a desert iguana. We did some research, but realized that we needed to do a bit of it online. We were struggling to find information on the desert iguana, but we managed to find out most the stuff we needed. He made a poster to go with his presentation. Here’s a picture of his poster and then a video of him giving his presentation that morning before school. The video is cut off right before he finished because of an alarm on my phone….sorry! I hope you enjoy them.

Milo and his poster
This is the photo Milo’s teacher took of him and his poster.

A photo of Milo’s poster.

Holly reading a story…

I caught this on video the other day. It is great to hear Holly tell you a story. I’ve read this book to her so many times, that she remembers it. The book is Are You Ready to Play Outside? by Mo Willems. It is cute. I hope you enjoy it too!
